The Monarch Butterfly Intricate Wall Art brings relaxed coastal texture to a wall. It is hand-woven from natural fibre into the shape of a butterfly with outstretched wings and curling antennae, so light and shadow play through the open weave.

This woven butterfly wall art looks lovely on its own or grouped with other woven sea creatures from the range, above a bed, bath or console.

What is bamboo bark?
Bamboo bark is the outer protective layer of the bamboo stalk, traditionally used in decorative craft across Southeast Asia. The material is light weight, accepts hand-incised carving detail well, and carries natural fibre character. The bamboo bark used in this piece is treated for indoor decorative use.

How does the sawtooth hanger work?
The sawtooth hanger is a small metal bracket fixed to the rear of the piece with multiple notched positions along its top edge. The piece hangs directly on a single wall nail or screw, with the sawtooth notches allowing horizontal fine-tuning by shifting which notch sits on the nail. No picture wire or specialised hardware is required.

What does "pierced filigree" mean?
Pierced filigree refers to decorative open cut-out detail worked into the surface of the piece. On the butterfly, sections of the bamboo bark are cut through and removed within the wing pattern, creating openings that let light pass through the piece and contribute the airy, light quality the supplier describes.

Does it require assembly?
No assembly required. The piece arrives as a completed wall art with the rear sawtooth hanger already fitted.

Is each butterfly identical?
The base form (30 × 30cm scale, monarch butterfly subject, deeply chiseled wing detailing, pierced filigree accents) is consistent across pieces in the supplier batch. Natural variations in the bamboo bark and the hand-carving process mean each butterfly carries subtle individual character, with the distressed wash distribution and the incised detailing showing differently across each piece.
