How many shelves does it have?
Four tiers of shelving across the 160cm vertical height. Each tier is a different depth, with the deepest at the base and the shallowest at the top.

Is the white wash finish identical on every Ladder Shelf?
The base form and finish style are consistent across pieces, but the white wash distribution varies between units, since the application is hand-applied. The character marks in the underlying lightweight wood also differ from piece to piece. The base character stays consistent, but the individual pattern of paint and timber details differs from one to the next.

What can I display on the open shelves?
The open ladder format suits books on the lower shelves, decorative objects across the middle tiers, and smaller display items on the upper shelves where the depth tapers. Layered styling generally works best with a mix of grouped books, decorative pieces, baskets, and negative space rather than filling every shelf to capacity.

Does the unit need to be wall-mounted for stability?
The A-frame form provides reasonable stability with the wider base anchoring the unit, but for tall units of this height, wall fixing for additional stability is worth considering, particularly in households with children or pets. Confirm wall-fixing recommendations at the time of order.

Does it come pre-assembled?
Yes. The ladder shelf arrives fully assembled with no assembly required at delivery.

Can I use it outdoors or on a covered patio?
No, the unit is designed for indoor use only. The white wash finish and the lightweight wood are not weather-rated for sustained outdoor placement.

Will the white wash chip or wear over time?
The distressed finish is already weathered as part of the styling intent, so light surface wear over years of use adds to the weathered character rather than degrading the piece. Heavier impact or scrubbing can damage the original finish, but normal household contact and routine use do not affect it.

What's the warranty?
The unit is covered by Sotran's furniture warranty. Hand-applied variation in the white wash and natural variation in the lightweight wood are not warranty defects, since they are part of how white-washed and IKD-range pieces present.
