Machined carving tends to read as uniform and shallow. Hand-carving carries depth and subtle variation, and it reveals itself more the longer the piece is lived with.

Solid mahogany throughout. This is not a veneer over engineered board. The frame, the posts and the joinery are all solid, high-grade mahogany — a dense, naturally durable timber with a fine, tight grain. Caring for solid mahogany

Mahogany can be affected by sustained moisture, so clean it with care. Wipe the surface with a slightly damp cloth, then immediately follow with a dry cloth to lift any remaining moisture. Avoid a soaking wet cloth, which can leave water markings on the finish. Never use abrasive cleaners. Between cleans, dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth — a microfibre cloth works well — to prevent dust settling into the grain.

To protect the wood over the longer term, wax the piece at least twice a year.
