Caring for solid mahogany and upholstery

Mahogany is a long-lived timber, and a hand-carved chair of this quality is built to last decades. A small weekly routine keeps the frame and the seat looking their best. Clean the wood with a slightly damp cloth, then immediately follow with a dry cloth to lift any moisture. Avoid a soaking wet cloth, which can leave water markings on the finish. Never use abrasive cleaners. Between cleans, dust the frame regularly with a soft, dry cloth — a microfibre cloth works well. Vacuum the seat upholstery gently to lift surface dust, and attend to any spills immediately with a dry, absorbent cloth.

To protect the wood over the longer term, wax the frame at least twice a year.
